Am I The Only One Who?: Thoughts on Super Ma'am, Sunday Pinasaya and More...

As I reflect to this past weeks about GMA Network, I wonder Am I The Only One Who...

. . . much rather see Barbie Forteza be paired with her real-life boyfriend Jak Roberto or Ivan Dorschner or even with Dennis Trillo (spite their huge age gap) instead of Ken Chan? No offense to Ken who is a better a actor than Barbie's other Meant To Be leading men, but I just dont see him as leading man material. It would take alot of repackaging before he can get off of Destiny Rose image.

. . . find it absurd that Sanya Lopez's character in Haplos went from being a rich girl with healing powers to an erotic club dancer?

. . . thought its more absurd that her Father, students, and friends never noticed the resemblance between Minerva and Super Ma'am?

. . . wonder what a Tamawo smells like? Super Ma'am is able to sense Tamawos by their smell and judging by their appearance that would be very uncomfortable.

. . . wonder if a sexy-pretty faced Kim Domingo also smells like a Tamawo?

. . . thinks Marian Rivera's leading man Matthias Rhoads is a non-factor in Super Ma'am and the show would be completely fine without him?

. . . is not hyped about GMA's new talents, specifically those who came from ABS-CBN? GMA already has a ton of underutilized and undervalued stars, having more people on the roster certainly doesn't help. And knowing GMA's bad habbit of prioritizing washed up Kapamilya stars, it would only push more GMA talents farther down their priority list

. . . think people shouldn't ask Jason Abalos anymore why he transfered to GMA? The guy hasn't been that active in ABS-CBN, he's not going to leave and they wont allow him to if the Kapamilya Network still finds him valuable.

. . . is fed up of Ruru Madrid doing the same song on Sunday Pinasaya's Kantaserye everyweek? I dont even know the song he performs woefully. And isn't it odd that the Kantaserye is titled Flower Pop Girls but Ruru always get the solo song number and their love angle of Gabbi Garcia is the center of the story?

. . . would rather see Julie Anne San Jose perform with the ASAP Biriteras than with the Flower Pop Girls of Sunday Pinasaya? Julie was one of the guests on Regine Velasquez Alcasid's R3.0 concert where Julie sang with the Songbird and shared the stage with Jonalyn Viray (I refuse to refer to her as Jona), Angeline Quinto and Morisette Amon, and it felt like she belonged in there. Julie is always at her best when she's performing with fellow legit music artists and being able to show her singing prowess in a meaningful performance. Unlike in Sunday Pinasaya where she's doing novelty and forced to lipsync to protect non singers.

. . . wonder why Maricris Garcia was not a guest on the R3.0 concert? Regine Velasquez Alcasid was a huge influence to Maricris who was the 3rd grand champion of Pinoy PopSuperstar, a singing competition then hosted by the Songbird and was a member of the singing group La Diva along with Aicelle Santos and Jonalyn Viray who were part of the concert. It would've been a feel good moment to see the trio reunite for a night. But my guess is Yes, Im the only one who is wondering about that.

Maging Sino Ka Man Failing In The Rating Race

GMA's new Primetime Teleserye Maging Sino Ka Man has not been so impressive in terms of ratings, it's just the third most-watched show on primetime in its debut week and not even the most-watched GMA primetime program, that honor goes to 24Oras while ABS-CBN's Batang Quiapo is now the undisputed number 1 weekday show after Voltes V legacy ended. What is even more alarming is that the ratings trend for MSKM is on a downward trajectory while Batang Quiapo is having a surge. MagingSinoKaMan's rating is just too low for its timeslot, it got bumped by Royal Blood and even by the afternoon show Abot Kamay Na Pangarap out of the top 3 daily programs. While some may say that it's still in the top 5 programs this is still disappointing considering its stars Barbie Forteza and David Licauco were fresh out of the successful Maria Clara at Ibarra and were highly touted for the show's success and were named the breakout loveteam. I Was Right About Louise Delos Reyes

I have always been skeptical about the huge push GMA handed to Louise Delos Reyes. From the start I've been firm and very vocal in my opinion that she's a hardsell as a leading lady, much more as the Network's top star. After a not so successful youth oriented series on TV5, Louise returned to GMA as an impromptu onscreen partner to Elmo Magalona in Pilyang Kerubin, and later as one of the casts of Tween Hearts, but only for very short stint as she was immediately elevated to leadstar status to play the title role in Alakdana and since starred in several primetime dramas, including the drowned Kambal Sirena. Fast forward today, GMA's Next Most Important Leading Lady has found herself suddenly below the level of importance.
