SundayAllStars Is What Holding GMA Singers Down

SundayAllStars is the anvil tied to GMA singers' ankles.

The show ensuring the network's music artists fail so that it's preferred type of entertainment and the network's heavily favored stars will succeed.

That is why Betong Sumaya is allover the show while real singers has longer time to sit backstage, and why Heart, Lovi and Solenn get to lipsynch a whole song while music artists only got four lines to sing.

Its a backward way of thinking adjusting a primary programming to suit a what should've been a supplementary offering.

Nobody has the right to blame Kyla for wanting to save whatever left in her career since GMA's musical vareity show is no longer utilizing singers to their full potentials.

Bad Comedy Segments

I can live with something like O.J. back in SOP if that is the only comedy break on the show and if it didn't involve stand up comedians in actual singing segments. But when you sprinke in tons of other bad comedy segments like an absurd male stripper gimmick it really changes the tone of the show.

I dont prescribe to the notion that you can increase TV ratings by appealing to non fans of the show with comedy. I believe viewers want their musical vareity served to them with largely a straight face.

There's nothing says "entertainment" means bad comedy. For me entertainment on the show comes from great music artists singing my favorite songs, having fierce and world class performances like what they used to do in SOP and Party Pilipinas before, I dont need the ridicule of Betong, Pekto or Boobay. In fact it diminishes the entertainment factor. If those terrible comedy segments truly helped bringing in people who otherwise dont like the show then I get the business sense in doing it, but I dont believe there is evidence to that.

Showcasing wrong talents

Thanks to Sunday AllStars the least talented performers the network has ever employed were given a bulk of airtime. I know its "AllStars" and everyone should be given a time to perform but do we need to see these unproven big stars in the most awkward performaces possible? Angel Locsin is the biggest star there is during her time on GMA, but she was never given a regular musical segment on SOP, to think these Kapuso actresses today weren't as big as Angel back then.

It is even less logical that non singers are given more airtime and performances than legit ones.

GMA Music Artists have to be mystified about how opportunities are divvied up. Frencheska Farr is a great singer and a versatile performer yet working semi-regular on the show. Meanwhile, a regular performer like Carla Abellana is still learning how to lipsynch her voice properly.

GMA's commitment to Sunday AllStars assures that the best teleserye subjects and people who can make Lilybeth Rasonable laugh will have doors opened for them. It also means viewers can bet on horrid musical numbers and nauseating comedy skits.

For the network's music artists it looks as if the best route to success is to follow Kyla.

Maging Sino Ka Man Failing In The Rating Race

GMA's new Primetime Teleserye Maging Sino Ka Man has not been so impressive in terms of ratings, it's just the third most-watched show on primetime in its debut week and not even the most-watched GMA primetime program, that honor goes to 24Oras while ABS-CBN's Batang Quiapo is now the undisputed number 1 weekday show after Voltes V legacy ended. What is even more alarming is that the ratings trend for MSKM is on a downward trajectory while Batang Quiapo is having a surge. I Was Right About Louise Delos Reyes

I have always been skeptical about the huge push GMA handed to Louise Delos Reyes. From the start I've been firm and very vocal in my opinion that she's a hardsell as a leading lady, much more as the Network's top star. After a not so successful youth oriented series on TV5, Louise returned to GMA as an impromptu onscreen partner to Elmo Magalona in Pilyang Kerubin, and later as one of the casts of Tween Hearts, but only for very short stint as she was immediately elevated to leadstar status to play the title role in Alakdana and since starred in several primetime dramas, including the drowned Kambal Sirena.
