Remembering Diana Zubiri

Diana Zubiri is getting married to her non-showbiz fiance, and her name might not be that relevant to this day but I would consider her as one of finest talents GMA has produced.

Diana got into showbiz through string of R-18 films and had her taste of the limelight when she had a controversial pictorial.

As for many, she's just a starlet hungry for attention. But that perception would soon change.

Then GMA Entertainment Head Wilma Galvante signed Diana to the Kapuso Network. She was casted on Bubble Gang where she became likable and later on auditioned for Darna, though the role went to GMA's top star Angel Locsin, the management continued to push Diana.

GMA later casted her as one of lead stars of its biggest tv series Encantadia which was the turning point of her career.

She played Sangre Danaya my most favorite character off the series of course thats because of Diana's portrayal of the role, though the series was mostly highlighted by Iza Calzado and Sunshine Dizon, Diana has held her own opposite those two A-list actresses. And its amazing how Diana went from being a bold star to a believable princess. She was given a great role and she became that character.

Unfortunately GMA failed to follow up on Diana's success as she received lackluster roles after Encantadia, and was relegated in supporting roles untill she fades out of the limelight.

Though Diana Zubiri was never really as big as Angel or Marian she's still made an impact during her active career. GMA gave her the opportunity and she maximizes it, a good synergy between talent and the management.

Proving GMA once had the capability to build up a star. Of course that is just a distant past now.

Maging Sino Ka Man Failing In The Rating Race

GMA's new Primetime Teleserye Maging Sino Ka Man has not been so impressive in terms of ratings, it's just the third most-watched show on primetime in its debut week and not even the most-watched GMA primetime program, that honor goes to 24Oras while ABS-CBN's Batang Quiapo is now the undisputed number 1 weekday show after Voltes V legacy ended. What is even more alarming is that the ratings trend for MSKM is on a downward trajectory while Batang Quiapo is having a surge. MagingSinoKaMan's rating is just too low for its timeslot, it got bumped by Royal Blood and even by the afternoon show Abot Kamay Na Pangarap out of the top 3 daily programs. I Was Right About Louise Delos Reyes

I have always been skeptical about the huge push GMA handed to Louise Delos Reyes. From the start I've been firm and very vocal in my opinion that she's a hardsell as a leading lady, much more as the Network's top star. After a not so successful youth oriented series on TV5, Louise returned to GMA as an impromptu onscreen partner to Elmo Magalona in Pilyang Kerubin, and later as one of the casts of Tween Hearts, but only for very short stint as she was immediately elevated to leadstar status to play the title role in Alakdana and since starred in several primetime dramas, including the drowned Kambal Sirena.
