AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO?: Thoughts On Lipsync Battle PH, Magpkailanman And More...

As I reflect to this past week on GMA, I Wonder Am I The Only One Who?. . .

. . . disgusted and had a scare when I heard the news about Christina Grimmie? The YouTube star was shot during the meet and greet session of her concert and passed away at the hospital where she was taken. Its a sad news as she was too young at 22 and has a great future as a talented singer/musician. Its scary that no one is really safe nowadays with the way our has society has become. Its also disappointing that such a horrible thing could happened in a place where security is suppose to be strict and tight.

. . . thought Magpakailanman episode last Saturday about Barang was more like an episode of the defunct GMA show Spooky Nights? I also got a kick out off the obvious disbelief on Mel Tiangco's face and voice tone while interviewing the person telling her lifestory.

. . . enjoyed the 1st round of Lipsync Battle PH but totally skipped the 2nd round? When Christian Bautista came out as a member of Destiny's Child I immediately shifted to the NBA Finals replay. This guys dressing up as females have gotten old and repetitive, the show should start doing a new gimmick.

. . . wonder if the live audience of Lipsync Battle PH who were mostly millennials was able to relate with Mark Bautista and Christian Bautista who did 90's hits such as You Ougtha Know by Alanis Morissette and My Boo by GhostTown DJs? Well thats a history lesson that music was once way better.

. . . thinks the upcomming requel of Encantadia pays little respect to the Lira character? Lira the daughter of Amihan was an important character in the original story and was played by Jennylyn Mercado who was the most popular female teenstar during that time. However the new incarnation of the telefantasya will not only feature a youngstar we haven't seen before as Lira, GMA also made little buzz and fanfare about the character as if it wont be an integral part of the story.

. . . disappointed that Julie Anne San Jose had no singing prod on SPS this week? I have little faith that a show like this will ever feature Julie's talent consistently but still it doesn't make sense considering Julie has a new single to promote. I've always thought that this show is a detriment to Julie's music career and they're proving why. Not to mention SPS and GMA Network as a whole has now become an unhealthy and unsafe working environment for her.

. . . thinks singer Jireh Lim who guested on SPS this week is a douche for accomodating and entertaining Aldub fans that are bashing Julie Anne San Jose on Twitter? I dont know if he's an ignorant not to sense it at all or just enjoyed the attention he got for the wrong reasons and wrong purpose. Either way he didn't looked cool like what he's assuming and lost every respect I had for him both as a legit musician and as a person.

Maging Sino Ka Man Failing In The Rating Race

GMA's new Primetime Teleserye Maging Sino Ka Man has not been so impressive in terms of ratings, it's just the third most-watched show on primetime in its debut week and not even the most-watched GMA primetime program, that honor goes to 24Oras while ABS-CBN's Batang Quiapo is now the undisputed number 1 weekday show after Voltes V legacy ended. What is even more alarming is that the ratings trend for MSKM is on a downward trajectory while Batang Quiapo is having a surge. MagingSinoKaMan's rating is just too low for its timeslot, it got bumped by Royal Blood and even by the afternoon show Abot Kamay Na Pangarap out of the top 3 daily programs. I Was Right About Louise Delos Reyes

I have always been skeptical about the huge push GMA handed to Louise Delos Reyes. From the start I've been firm and very vocal in my opinion that she's a hardsell as a leading lady, much more as the Network's top star. After a not so successful youth oriented series on TV5, Louise returned to GMA as an impromptu onscreen partner to Elmo Magalona in Pilyang Kerubin, and later as one of the casts of Tween Hearts, but only for very short stint as she was immediately elevated to leadstar status to play the title role in Alakdana and since starred in several primetime dramas, including the drowned Kambal Sirena. Fast forward today, GMA's Next Most Important Leading Lady has found herself suddenly below the level of importance.
