GMA May Have Missed Chances With Julie Anne
When Julie Anne San Jose re-signed with GMA last August things seemed to have full of promise, and why not? she's one of the network's most loyal, most hardworking and most importantly the most talented star on their roster.
Now that months in her new contract are in the books any opportunities GMA had to make the most out those talents maybe gone.
Since re-signing as a Kapuso, GMA hasn't done anything to further her career, and actually did the opposite, She's still not getting meaningful airtime on Sunday Pinasaya as her screen time remains to be just a fraction.
Now the latest rumblings suggests that her upcoming drama series with rumored boyfriend Benjamin Alves had been delayed in favor of another series and it may not air until the next year. As the old adage goes, too little too late.
GMA should've had the project months ago while Julie-Benjamin was a hot item effectively capitalizing on its hype. But instead Julie was once again passed on in favor of the network's favorite talents.
Of course, we have witnessed that similar scenario before, recently with Jennylyn Mercado who got her major primetime show shelved. At least Jennylyn is a established star already and still hosting her own show.
The longer GMA waits the longer Julie will be taken seriously as a top star. What will GMA do with Julie in the meantime? Two minute Sunday Pinasaya skit with little to no dialogue or impersonate Ruffa Mae Quinto? Heck, they even stopped her album mall tours for some reasons.
There's a legitimate complaints that her album is already out of stock in music stores and GMA Records refuses to replenish, while her music videos are being delayed and her songs are not being released. Lastly, they can't even do a simple task of promoting her concerts.
When your attention is heavily focused on one talent or two you often overlooked another and right now GMA's focus is heavily on one guy who's popularity shouldn't even be credited to them in the first place.
Some great artists like Gary Valenciano admires and wants to work with Julie and once stated that she's one of the best local artists today. She may not be a pop culture phenomenon but she had already proved she need not to be. All she'll need is her gift of music to get to the top. But that wont happen when her projects are always delayed and opportunities kept denied.
