Can GMA Still Pull Off My Love From The Star With Less Popular Leading Man?

Its seems Jennylyn Mercado and her Pinoy remake of My Love From The Star are already screwed up this early.

Alden Richards who was first confirmed to be playing the Matteo Do character is said to be out of the project already. It makes sense as his fans will sure deluge social media with petty comments about the show and bury Jennylyn.

The problem now is Is there any other kapuso leading man that could take the role? GMA doesn't have a deep roster of top male stars. Dingdong Dantes is their no.1 guy but he's most likely not going to work with other leading ladies, Dennis Trillo (who's Jennylyn's special someone) still has an ongoing series, and the should've been first choice for the role Tom Rodriguez is already doing a show with Lovi Poe.

GMA's rumored choice to replace Alden is Benjamin Alves, Im not sure I would agree to that route. Benjamin has the talent and all the leading man qualities but he isn't near the top tier level. In fact GMA hasn't given him anything noteworthy, he's just a one of those characters in a comedy show and a supporting character to Mark Herras' soap.

In theory when someone leaves the door open its an opportunity for somebody else to step in-- however the question is Who?. Like I've said GMA lacks the depth to still pull it off, anyone that has lesser star power will just undermine an iconic series like My Love From The Star.

Maging Sino Ka Man Failing In The Rating Race

GMA's new Primetime Teleserye Maging Sino Ka Man has not been so impressive in terms of ratings, it's just the third most-watched show on primetime in its debut week and not even the most-watched GMA primetime program, that honor goes to 24Oras while ABS-CBN's Batang Quiapo is now the undisputed number 1 weekday show after Voltes V legacy ended. What is even more alarming is that the ratings trend for MSKM is on a downward trajectory while Batang Quiapo is having a surge. I Was Right About Louise Delos Reyes

I have always been skeptical about the huge push GMA handed to Louise Delos Reyes. From the start I've been firm and very vocal in my opinion that she's a hardsell as a leading lady, much more as the Network's top star. After a not so successful youth oriented series on TV5, Louise returned to GMA as an impromptu onscreen partner to Elmo Magalona in Pilyang Kerubin, and later as one of the casts of Tween Hearts, but only for very short stint as she was immediately elevated to leadstar status to play the title role in Alakdana and since starred in several primetime dramas, including the drowned Kambal Sirena.
