Am I The Only One Who? :Thoughts On Lipsync Battle, Encantadia, Sunday PinaSaya And More. . .
As I reflect to this past week on GMA I wonder, Am I The Only One Who. . .
. . . wishes Manny Pacquiao to lose if ever he really steps inside the ring again? Promoter Bob Arum keeps on barking about Manny coming out of retirement to face a yet to be named opponent, though Manny refuses to confirm, he's also not denying it-- obviously teasing a dramatic comeback and breaking his promise to close his doors to boxing and focus on his responsibilities as a senator. You see, Manny Pacquiao is an awful politician and a lazy public servant, he's not even the sports icon he was. What he is now is a washed up boxer and an icon of self-indulgence who does things in the name of spotlight. I hope whoever his opponent would beat him back to retirement for good.
. . . disagree to Max Collins' description of her role in Encantadia as being short but sweet? Max played the role of Amihan; the sister of Minea and in my opinion its short alright,-- and useless, and just created a loophole in the story, she got killed in the pilot and the absence of character development resulted a lack of any emotional investment to her death. In the original Encantadia Minea was the first born Sang'gre and doesn't have a sister.
. . . thought Arvak the king of Hathoria looked weak and stupid for being hit by an arrow behind his back and died immediately? That inspite of possessing two of the Brilyantes.
. . . thought the king of Sapiro is even weaker, as he got killed by a king who got killed by an ordinary soldier?
. . . thought its a complete injustice that Asval the sapiryan who killed King Arvak was never promoted or rewarded?
. . . thought John Feir and the fat woman playing as his wife were the best actors and the most compelling characters in the first week of Encantadia?
. . . thinks the recent episode LipsyncBattle Ph featuring Benjamin Alves and Fabio Ide lived up to their SPG rating?
. . . thought Benjamin and Fabio dressing up as women was a forgone conclusion in LipsyncBattle PH?
. . . thinks kapuso male star Jak Roberto is exploited? If not then why he always have to be shirtless in all his guestings? If GMA trully believes he has a shot to a big break then it would focus on his talents and not with his abs?
. . . Thought Long Mejia's retorts on Sunday Pinasaya wasn't funny? Long who is long gone from GMA appeared in one of Marian Rivera's SPS segment and failed to make it entertaining with his old schtick. The segment stayed more than its welcome, it was very telling that when Marian threw the props and said the"Lumayas Ka!" line the audience rejoiced.
. . . is wondering when will Julie Anne San Jose have another musical prod on Sunday Pinasaya? Julie had the long awaited song number this week and luckily she was able to perform her new single Naririnig Mo Ba? in full.-- But if wasn't for the promotion of the song and her new album, I doubt if the show would really give her the prod. They won't even let her have the segment on her own putting it in the unneeded Dos Lolos act making Julie Anne looked like a promoting guest. I keep hoping Julie Anne will have a more prominent spot on the show, but whenever it seems like its going to happen, it ends up just being a tease.
. . . if didn't know better, swear Julie Anne San Jose is being set up to fail by someone behind Sunday Pinasaya? Well-- maybe she really is being set up to fail. She got the least amount of screentime in Kantaserye and when its time for her to sing they tried to overshadow her with a Regine impersonator who doesn't know the lyrics of a Regine song and Kim Last's new loveteam who went off-key. Ok, maybe I could bear with Kim Last's loveteam but the Regine impersonator was really awful. Its just illogical and absurd that Julie Anne, the resident singer and regular cast of the show was made to looked like a back up for an unfunny comedy bar performer in segment where she's billed as the main act.
