Am I The Only One Who?: Thoughts On Encantadia Lipsync Battle PH, Sunday PinaSaya And More. . .

As I reflect to this past week on GMA I Wonder Am I The Only One Who. . .

. . .had totally forgotten everything about My Juan Happy Love Story? Dennis Trillo and Heart Evangelista's series is on its final week but I actually thought it already ended months ago. Well I guess its now normal for GMA dramas to come and go without anyone ever noticing.

. . . thinks Pirena has become both the main protagonist and antagonist of Encantadia 2016? It seems everything revolves around Pirena now as she has more scenes than any of the three other sang'gres combined. I can't blame the producers though if they've decided to lean on Glaiza that much as so far she's been the only one who's really knocking off her role. But I want to see the balance between the four sang'gres much like in the original Encantadia where every character shined. So far the only other compelling character is Gurna, because she's always in a conversation with Pirena.

. . . thinks Gurna the personal servant of Pirena is capable to lead Encantadia? She acts as the advisor to Pirena and almost the brain behind her every plan. Not to mention that she's seems alot more smarter than the sang'gres, she's been spying on Lireo eversince without anyone ever doubting her loyalty. Not even during the time Pirena started an uprising against Lireo had anyone suspected her as a mule considering the then Queen Mine-a and her head servant Ades knows she's a half-blood hathor and is very close to Pirena.

. . . thinks GMA Network's airing of the Phenomenal South Korean Drama Descendants Of The Sun isn't that phenomenal? Its not really a game changer in terms of ratings, actually its not even a winner. Its not as successful in the Philippines as other K-Dramas such a Lovers In Paris, Stairway To Heaven, Full House, Jewel In The Palace or even My Love From The Star. In the first place why would anyone still watch it on GMA if they had already seen it on the internet and on pirated DVDs?

. . . thinks having Aljur Abrenica, Kris Bernal, Louise Delos Reyes and Sef Cadayona for the second time on Lipsync Battle PH was lazy? I dont even care if its the tag-team edition, its just lame for a season finale. If they are to invite participants back they should've had Aljur Abrenica vs. Kylie Padilla or Sheree vs. Aicelle Santos, atleast those were more compelling and intriguing match ups. I also would've had Jennylyn Mercado against anyone instead since its her show that will be taking its timeslot.

. . . find it kind of funny that Barbie Forteza was never allowed to formally admit her relationship (now past relationship) with Kiko Estrada but can now admit their break up?

. . . thinks Sunday Pinasaya did not made the most out of Jennylyn Mercado's guesting? I know Jennylyn was just there to promote Superstar Duets but sure SPS writers could've written a better segment for her rather than Coach Cynthia. Why not have a special segment for her? I would even have her invade the show much like they did with Yaya Dub. I see no problem with that since Jennylyn is a huge star and the top tier to Marian Rivera.

. . . thinks GMA's Senior PR personel really made a bad impression when she was caught having a friendly conversation with some aldub fans bashing Julie Anne San Jose on her Instagram comments? Perhaps she's just very unlucky that one of Julie's fans happened to screencapped the convo, although she said nothing bad against Julie,-- discovering the network's PR department is somewhat close to the bashers of their own talent would certainly leave a bad taste in anyone's mouth. While she immediately deleted the comments and was already bailed by JAPS fans after explaining herself, I still believe such situation comes-off as hypocritical to GMA's anti-cyberbullying campaign.

. . . is now looking forward to Julie Anne San Jose's upcoming projects in GMA? Entertainment SVP Lilybeth Rasonable revealed some hints about Julie's future projects, a soap is on its way but I'm more interested on what she said will showcase Julie's singing and hosting and I hope its really something major.

Maging Sino Ka Man Failing In The Rating Race

GMA's new Primetime Teleserye Maging Sino Ka Man has not been so impressive in terms of ratings, it's just the third most-watched show on primetime in its debut week and not even the most-watched GMA primetime program, that honor goes to 24Oras while ABS-CBN's Batang Quiapo is now the undisputed number 1 weekday show after Voltes V legacy ended. What is even more alarming is that the ratings trend for MSKM is on a downward trajectory while Batang Quiapo is having a surge. MagingSinoKaMan's rating is just too low for its timeslot, it got bumped by Royal Blood and even by the afternoon show Abot Kamay Na Pangarap out of the top 3 daily programs. While some may say that it's still in the top 5 programs this is still disappointing considering its stars Barbie Forteza and David Licauco were fresh out of the successful Maria Clara at Ibarra and were highly touted for the show's success and were named the breakout loveteam. I Was Right About Louise Delos Reyes

I have always been skeptical about the huge push GMA handed to Louise Delos Reyes. From the start I've been firm and very vocal in my opinion that she's a hardsell as a leading lady, much more as the Network's top star. After a not so successful youth oriented series on TV5, Louise returned to GMA as an impromptu onscreen partner to Elmo Magalona in Pilyang Kerubin, and later as one of the casts of Tween Hearts, but only for very short stint as she was immediately elevated to leadstar status to play the title role in Alakdana and since starred in several primetime dramas, including the drowned Kambal Sirena. Fast forward today, GMA's Next Most Important Leading Lady has found herself suddenly below the level of importance.
