Thoughts On Jennylyn Mercado's Superstar Duets

Its just this week when GMA started airing the plug for Superstar Duets, the new reality comedy-singing competition hosted by Jennylyn Mercado which will be replacing Lipsync Battle Ph starting September 3.

If I didnt know better I swear Jennylyn is set to fail with this show.

Judging by the lack of compelling build up and last minute promotion, I can tell that this is just a filler program Jennylyn can sink her teeth into while her MLTFS remains pending because-- you know, the world needs to adjust to the almighty nation that grabs GMA by the throat.

Jennylyn re-signed with GMA Network last June and was given the title The Ultimate Star, it was the most awaited crowning moment of GMA's most successful homegrown talent. Well that doesn't look like what it seems right now. She's not really that visible on TV and only seen on a 15 minute cooking show on NewsTV aside from some very rare guestings. Fact; Kakai Bautista (if you happened to know her) has more tv appearances than her lately. Sure GMA has huge plans for Jennylyn prior to her re-signing, My Love From The Star was her most anticipated project but GMA backpedaled and its hype is now slowly fading away

This Superstar Duets could've been great but as I've said it lack any compelling build up and just pop out of nowhere-- either because GMA believes its going fail anyway so why bother, or--The whole GMA PR department (if not obvious) are too busy with Aldub.

And the least interesting thing about this show is that the participants aren't really superstars but rather GMA singers the network has nothing better to do with and some corny stand up comedians.

I would even think that some network executives are more concern giving themselves their good laughs, than giving the audience quality entertainment or even giving Jennylyn a good show.
