How GMA Dimmed The Lights Of Chasing The Light

Julie Anne San Jose's Chasing The Light was hottest local album last July but GMA Records and GMA Network dimmed the lights preventing it from shining even brighter.

The album went straight to the number one spot of the iTunes chart as soon it's released and go on to stay on the top for a week, it also immediately became the best selling album in Astro record stores. But instead of capitalizing on it GMA stunted its momentum as they are fully focused on some other things.

It took a week after its official release before Julie has able to launch and promote the album on television-- afterall it was on the same show that once cut her off on live tv while promoting her concert.

Julie is also reportedly supposed to guest on a radio show a day after the release of Chasing The Light but for some reason it was called-off, instead they had her in fan meet and greet which alot of her fan groups were unaware of.

It also makes no sense that its taking forever for the music video of her carrier single Naririnig Mo Ba? to come out as it would've been the best platform to promote the song-- yet as of now we still haven't got any exact date when the music video will premiere as if it is purposely being held off.

A week ago its been said that GMA Records shot a music video for another song, whatever GMA is trying to pull off and how they are going to do so remains to be seen. What is more clear is that GMA doesn't get Julie, otherwise it wouldn't cast her on a show without any discernable role.

Julie Anne San Jose is being wasted-- she's one of the talented legit artists in the OPM scene right now but GMA wanted her to be a clown and presented her as a comedy bar act. There's also no denying that she has a loyal fanbase as apparent to the success of her recent concert and album mall shows.

Promotion and build-up is not just about press write-ups, online articles and hashtags, its more on the execution.

Speaking as a fan I hope my concerns will ultimately prove to have been unwarranted.

GMA's new Primetime Teleserye Maging Sino Ka Man has not been so impressive in terms of ratings, it's just the third most-watched show on primetime in its debut week and not even the most-watched GMA primetime program, that honor goes to 24Oras while ABS-CBN's Batang Quiapo is now the undisputed number 1 weekday show after Voltes V legacy ended. What is even more alarming is that the ratings trend for MSKM is on a downward trajectory while Batang Quiapo is having a surge. I Was Right About Louise Delos Reyes

I have always been skeptical about the huge push GMA handed to Louise Delos Reyes. From the start I've been firm and very vocal in my opinion that she's a hardsell as a leading lady, much more as the Network's top star. After a not so successful youth oriented series on TV5, Louise returned to GMA as an impromptu onscreen partner to Elmo Magalona in Pilyang Kerubin, and later as one of the casts of Tween Hearts, but only for very short stint as she was immediately elevated to leadstar status to play the title role in Alakdana and since starred in several primetime dramas, including the drowned Kambal Sirena.
